1970 Springbok speedometer

Hi there. My boyfriend is restoring a 1970's Springbok boat. The speedometer needs to be replaced and I'm having a hard time finding one. I'd like to surprise him with one. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on where I might find this.

Is he restoring the boat to look original and is there a nonworking speedometer or a just a hole where one was? Or does he just want to add a speedometer to see how fast he is going?

He wants it to look original. The speedometer is there, it's just broken.

It should have markings on it front or back. Springbok dealers bought speedos and etc from various vendors, so w out knowing whose it is, it'll be tough to find a match, if even possible.

Google vintage boat speedometers and click the Images tab. Might get luvky and find a match or similar.

Easier route would be to know diameter of speedo gauge and find a vintage speedo on ebay that fits hole, but may not be an exact match.

4 or 5yrs ago I heard of a guy that repaired/restored vintage gauges, car or boat didnt matter. But inexpensive they are not.... google vintage speedometer repair, I dont recall his name, how to reach him or where I read/heard it.

Amazing. Thank you so much. I will try to get a closer look on the down low. Lol. Its really clouded so it's hard to see but I'll try and snap a pic when he's not around.

Those old speedos were nothing but a simple pressure gauge and can be tested by putting air pressure to the tube on the back of the gauge. It may not be broken but be just a clogged pickup or the hose is clogged or broken. Has he actually tested it? Won't cost you a cent if it is fixable.
