Has anyone out there any info on building a CD unit from Parts?
After doing some research and with a little background in electronics I know that they are not exactly rocket science. A transistor, some diodes and resisters, a capacitor and a coil.

I have an old 1986 Tohatsu 50 HP and need the CD unit which is discontinued, maybe someone out there has a used one?

I expect the hard part of your task would be to rig up the trigger. There are likely lots of CDI units for autos and other applications

Years ago (1970s) there were aftermarket CDI units. They used points as the triggering device, and zapped the standard automotive ignition coil with 300V or so, from the power transistors and capaciters.

Maybe you could adapt something like that.
