Hello everyone,
I'm new to boating as well as this forum. Last week I bought a 2003 Glastron 175 sx with a Volvo Penta 3.0L engine. Everything ran great on test run. Yesterday we had it out for the first time. About 45 minutes into our ride, the engine started with a intermittent, continuous beeping. All temperature and oil pressure gauges within normal limits and boat appeared to be running normally. When speeding up to higher rpms, noise became more if a chirping/quieter tone, then resumed to initial beeping after slowing back down. Please help. First time out on the water and now what? I started it up today in the driveway. Started up easily, but beeping began immediately. I've checked my owners manual and can't find anything. I have a video if anyone is interested. Thanks.

a carbureted vovlo of that era should have only temp and oil pressure audio warning systems. the system relies on switches for both temp and oil pressure. even though the gauges are reading correctly doesn't mean that either switch has failed or there is an actual issue

when it happens again disconnect both switches and see if the issue persists

I started the boat up again today and started immediately. How do I disconnect them? What will make it alarm if it is disconnected? Hoping somehow my local mechanic can look at it tomorrow.

remove the wire from the switch, either held in place by a nut on the switch post or a spade terminal

nothing will cause the alarm to sound if you disconnect them, the switches complete the audio warning horn circuit to ground. remove the wire from the switch and the circuit is open

So I did a little troubleshooting. I checked oil. Level and clarity of oil are fine. i realized the other day that when I ran it with the muffs, I forgot to look to see if the motor was peeing, as I was inside the boat. I want to check again to ensure nothing is wrong with the cooling system/overheating, but am afraid to run again if so. Also, the beeping starts immediately now when the battery is turned on, even before engine start up. Obviously the engine is cold at this point. I see the 2 wires going to my alarm. A bit sad and frustrated. We have had this boat out once and the shop the previous owner recommended can't get it until july. I feel like if I can figure out if it is just a sensor, I should be able to learn how to change the sensor myself.

Time4summer - where are you located out of interest - I have an identical boat to you! Sx175 2003 with 3.0 volvo penta.

Anyway, you're in luck as I had the same issue last season - it's the oil alarm pressure but turned out the sensor is faulty.

Buy this, change it yourself in 5 minutes, it's located left-hand side of the block, midway up.

Here is an exploded diagram numbers 14-17

The part you require is following:

Let me know how you get on!
