Have an 84 Bayliner Capri with VP aq 125a inboard and aq270 outdrive....just bought it a few months ago put alot of time and money getting it ready for the water....took it out today and have a few problems.....firstly, it's not going over 10 mph ....now I took the whole outdrive off and changed bellows and whatnot...possible that I have to adjust the shift cable nut more for correct speed? Or adjust the carb ? Not sure if I put it back right where it was.....another question I have is does that outdrive have to be tilted all the way down and locked in in order to reverse ? .....she pops up hard when I reverse it unless tilted all the way down and locked......also....the tilt moror holds the outboard fine when out of water .. but when in water with motor tilted up, when I put it in gear and start going the outboard drops all the way back down as soon as it starts going underload. New to boats and learning as I go but not familiar with these things.
