Hey everyone, I have a 1986 wellcraft Nova XL 23, was redoing the instrument cluster and found in wire that wasn't attached to anything, ended up touching one of the metal pieces on the gauges and sparking later that day tried starting the engine and nothing not even a click.... I did a jumper wire on the starter solenoid and the engine started right up I ended up replacing the solenoid just to be safe.... I replaced the 50 anp reset breaker next to the solenoid and still nothing however a jumper wire on a solenoid still starts.... To test to make sure the breaker was not the issue I connected both of the wires directly together and still nothing.... What am I missing is there any fuses down in the engine area that maybe taped up or hidden any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome aboard.

We care less about the boat and more about which drive and motor ia in the boat as that is what determines the wiring schematic.

So do you have a mercruiser, Volvo Penta or OMC?

The 4.3's have a 90 amp fuse on the starter. I once shorted that out and nothing worked. Not sure if your boat has that fuse. But it does sound like a fuse is blown.
