Does any one know how to reset the GPS EOW date and time for this unit. I have a LGC-12W antenna which works but will not register correct time and date. I have searched extensively for about a week with no results. I know this is a very old unit but I would like to try to fix it. I also have also installed the latest software update from the lowrance website which is 2.5.
On another topic I can create maps from Lowrance MapCreate that do not work with this unit because its the lcm format. Only the Navonics XL format seems to work. Any information to these problems would be appreciated.

The unit is close, if not 25 years old.

The GPS constellation has been updated and reconfigured a number of times, not to mention the software changes done since then.

Software updates where required in 1999 and again in 2019 to address time and date rollovers issues.

Without these updates the unit will not receive GPS data

First and foremost thank you for response. I am aware of rollover issues. My unit will acquire satellites but the time and date are wrong. It uses a lowrance LGC -12W antenna which is part of GPS. I have several garmin handheld units that had batteries removed. When new batteries were installed they had the same issue. I went on line and found someone that had a GPS EOW download that worked for Garmin units that I used to reset their GPS date and time clock. Unable to find for my lowrance. When the Lowrance unit is turned off there is no power for antenna and i think that is what has happened. Every time it powers up it starts in January 2001.

I know the unit all too well.

Got in a huge fight with the dealer for installing one on my then new boat when I specified a Furuno unit. Replaced after 6 months. First and last Lowrance product I’ve ever owned

It’s coming up 1/1/2001 because it can’t read the updated satellite data with existing software.

It’s actually a chip issue. If the chipset doesn’t support the new functionality, flashing the bios or a software update is not going to fix it.

I don’t see the unit on Lowrance’s rollover support page. Goes back to HDS Gen 1 but nothing older.

You would be far better ahead from a technical stand point to just replace the unit. Today’s $200 units are far more advanced both in features and performance.

Again thank you for quick response. I did update this afternoon to a Garmin EchoMap UHD 73sv. I would have loved to have fixed this old unit. Lowrance is not the same company that it used to be.

Lowrance is now consumer goods. Simrad makes their good stuff

You’ll like the Echomap. I use a 94SV with the GT51 transducer for side scanning. Running a Airmar B 75M for primary
