I inherited a 1995 searay 220 with a 5.7 carbed. The prop on It is a black max 14.25X 21p with half a blade missing. Have no idea how it performed when in one piece. I've no need for a fancy SS prop but I would like to get a decent AL and could use some guidance..
Thx

Need to check that out with a Prop Selector, fill all the required data, will dial a starter prop much better than the current screwed one which can't be tached at wot as loaded anymore.

Thx, the size checks out as to what the boat came with. I could get another like it, just looking at the many different brands that are offered. Just want the best bang for my buck.

Black max will work fine for a all-around prop. Michigan vortex is similar Quality. Depending on how you want to use it -load of people and gear watersports or cruising you may want to change pitch or blade configuration. Best bet is see how a replacement black max works and go from there.

I like the Turning Point 4 blade props. They have two sets of different style blades, which work well in my heavy 21 footer. You might research them.

Yes, but without wot rpm data achieved as loaded that prop or new same one won't say much and remain as a starter prop. Whichever brand/model prop you choose must be unfailingly water tested...

Thanks much for the help! At this point a starter prop is better than none. I need to learn a lot more about props but at this point I just want something that will be acceptable and safe. Over time I will get to know the boat.

I put a black max 14 1/2 x 19p and it seems to be fine. It will easily reach 4800 rpm on the boat tach, although the speedo doesn't work. That said it seemed plenty fast enough. Gets on plane well, I think it is good enough for my needs and doesn't seem to be stressing the engine so maybe it's a keeper.. At least it has 3 whole blades..LOL

Do you know what's the min-max wot rpm range factory stated for said motor, just to know, with 4800 wot rpm achived as lightly, medium, or heavy loaded ? to which side of the wot rpm range was the motor revving at ?

The book says 4400 4800 rpm at wot. I suppose I was light as it was just me and half tank of fuel.

Excellent, the motor is revving towards the max wot rpm range which is spot on, achieves fast hole shots with slight top end speed loss, wot rpm will decrease as the load is increased...
