Ok I ordered a 2022 Mercury 25hp for my 14ft 1956 V Hull Aluminum boat. Rated as 40hp max. The wife and I weigh in around 430 lbs, boat is approx 170 lbs, motor 157, fuel tank 6 gal full 36 lbs, fishing gear and small cooler and I'm at max weight. 800lbs I think. maybe over slightly. So what blade/pitch should I buy to help push it along? Not too worried about a quick hole shot. Will be used mostly for fishing trips with my Queen and I. Once or twice a yr possibly towing a grandson in a small inner tube.

Go to Mercury Marine's prop selector web site and enter your info. The data they provide should be quite close to what you need.

Thank you JimS123. Wow your boat owning list is very impressive!
I cant help but think I've somehow made you angry with me. Was not my intension. I had already looked at mercury's homepage and input the information there. What I was hoping for was that someone here with way more experience than myself would post something like " For your setup I would recommend .......... Stay away from..........." In a way thats what you told me. I was assuming there was more to it than a simple chart.

My apologies Sir.

No need to apologize. I was not upset. I just assumed that you didn't know how to access the prop selection tool, so I thought I would save you the trouble.

If you had a bigger boat with a lot of HP and the potential for speed, there are a lot of options to consider. Mercury makes some awesome props today.

However, with a speed potential of maybe 25 mph, you don't have many options. All you need to be concerned with is that your WOT rpm is in the upper half of your engine's spec range. If so, your rig will be optimized.
