82 Evinrude 70 hp

No water from pee hole after high acceleration. Stationary operation of engine with garden hose ear muffs on...water pump rebuilt.new every thing..new thermostat and poppet valve rubber grommets..I do not know know wat else to look at..very strong water flow on idle and mid engine operation..do I need this engine leg immersed in water..first time outboard engine owner...please need help before it hits the lake....tanx in advance fellow vintage boat owners....

yes pump must be FULLY immersed to pull in water... did you just do all this on a hose/muufs ??

keep RPMs low on muffs or in a deep bucket

glad you feel better but is the issue resolved ?? does it pump water ok mounted on the boat and in the lake ??

Hit the water..started and attempted to restart that cold evirude back up .lost all power to engage starter or hear electric choke engagement..Furious cause just drove 70km to take family fishing and see what my 2 week resurrection project amounted too and never got engine to start. Did the afternoon on used trolling motor and a couple of batteries..still had fun. Running out of time up here in western Canada..old man winter has given us some teasers. May not see a body of water till spring of 22..I'll keep you all posted..

Cowling tells me it is an 81 model.----Same as an 82 model as far as parts.-----Checked the fuse ?-----Motor will start with a dead battery using rope on flywheel.------Your location ?

Regina,Sask.Canada...Checking power and grounds right now..Maddening cause I started a stopped this engine many times while preparing her for maiden voyage.. We will "FIGURE IT OUT"...Yes..old guy I work with showed me rope provision at top of flywheel..Why would you ever need it...lol...

Racerone....Lotta water...you just have to get off the beaten path...Katepwa ..wear I have been putting that 70 evinrude though its paces...50 foot water..10 minutes north of Indian head sk..Long lake sk..Google it..you see..she's long..winter fished long lake...Lotta lake to explore..Were is home?? If I may ask..we are not just flat prairie hear..lol...Great success gentlemen..You too "Boobie"..Evinrude can pee like a teenage boy that can write his name in the snow....All is good.. No start.. !!!!!! Figured it out this morning before we went out again...Lack of ground at starter solenoid..like off an old Ford p/u...cut into wire and soldered in fresh wire which then got eyeletted(if thatz a word) to main ground stud.. works like a Swiss watch now..pulled omc controller apart thinking safety switch..barked up the wrong tree..she all works fine for sitting for a few years.. we had a beautiful day.. she might be are last.. tanx guys for your input..talk to you all probably in 2022...(p.s)...she hit 29 mph on the garmin fish findin machine...reel speed demon!!!@!
