Hello,
My wife and I just bought a vintage boat to cruise around in with the potential to restore it. We'll see how things go right!;)

It is a Trailorboat fiberglass hull with ser# 142556. i cannot find a hull or vin number yet. I was thinking may it was a 1956 just because the last 2 number are 56. I would like to get information as to the year.

The motor is a McCulloch 45 hp elec. start. The ser# is 80378 with 4 additional digits (1342) that i cannot figure out.
The information I've found says that it is a 1966-1969 but I do not know what the (1342) means
any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you

Welcome aboard.

if you have a serial number, its older than 1972 and there is no HIN

did you get paperwork with the boat (registration/title/bill of sale)?

Hi and thank you.
I did get the registrations for both the boat and trailer. The year on these docs say 1970. The trailer actually looks to be a 70's Lil Dude but the boat and motor look much older. (i'll add pick of the boat/trailer shortly)
i think that someone in previous years didn't have the documents and guessed the year based on the trailer and of course the Calif DMV accepted it as is without verifying things like they should. The people we got it from didn't think twice. They had it for about 2.5 years before deciding to sell it because the motor stopped running.

if your legal paperwork says its a 1970...... its a 1970. the cost to change it would out-weigh the value of the boat.

thanks for the information.
i'm asking for help identifying the correct year so i can order parts as i need them.
i am finding it hard to believe it is a 1970 boat and motor. i sure would hate to order the wrong parts.

boat manufacturer is long defunct, parts were a mix of specific castigs and generic hardware, you probably wont find old parts, you will most likely need to adapt new parts or fabricate.

motor parts are ordered off of serial number
