gimbal bearing install

I am installing a new gimbal bearing and have encountered some resistance installing it. I figured it is due to not checking the engine alignment prior to pulling the old gimbal out. I also read in the service manual to "make sure the gimbal bearing is properly aligned" prior to adjusting the engine mounts I assume that's referring to making sure the bearing is seated correctly? Also I'm thinking I will need to adjust my engine alignment and then check the bearing if it's seated properly?

Ayuh,..... How did ya drive it in,..?? there's gonna be resistance, as it's a resistance fit, ei; driven in,....

If ya drove it in, by only hittin' the outside aluminum collar, all ya gotta do now is align it,.....

Hey Bondo thank you for your reply, I used the installer cup that attaches to the alignment bar, there was enough resistance driving it in that I had a hard time removing the bar from the coupler, that's when I realized how bad the alignment was. I attempted to adjust my motor mounts but they are too corroded so I am going to replace my corroded motor mounts with a good used set I have on hand and then will do the alignment and then check the bearing again that it's seated correctly. It seems like the only way to confirm the bearing is seated.

The gimbal bearing would not have any reliance on the engine alignment. If you are getting too much resistance and the bearing assembly is not going in as it should, try pulling it back out and checking everything.

IIRC, there was/is a particular orientation for the gimbal bearing. . . . but it's been years since I had to install one.

turns out the bearing was seated just fine, but it was not pivoting which made it difficult to insert the alignment bar. after watching a video that showed how the bearing pivots I figured out that my gimbal bearing wasn't pivoting and after I gave it a good whack it started moving around. Then it was just some adjusting of the front mounts and wah lah I have great alignment.
