Great! Thanks. I'm not back by my boat until two weeks from now. Let me get back to you regarding serial number then.Hi there, welcome to iboats...That part is part of an exhaust water shutter...As an example see item number 6, https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/30905/4893/270
What is your engine serial number?
What's the general info of the engine? year, model, engine displacement, etc.?Great! Thanks. I'm not back by my boat until two weeks from now. Let me get back to you regarding serial number then.
The only info I can give you right now, is 1999, and Mercruiser 3.0 gasoline...What's the general info of the engine? year, model, engine displacement, etc.?
And it's mounted on a Bayliner 1952 Cuddy Cabin, also 1999The only info I can give you right now, is 1999, and Mercruiser 3.0 gasoline...
Gotcha! And yes in your case the engine serial number is best to have/know as you're right around engine type component design changes even though the first parts link as used for an example above would fit your engine exhaust system... But please do find your engine/stern drive/transom assemblies serial numbers and input them into the serial number search at the top right corner of the parts link above to find your OEM parts catalog info. The only info I can give you right now, is 1999, and Mercruiser 3.0 gasoline...
Now I've got the serial number of the drive. It's OL458365 or if the O is an 0, 0L458365.What's the general info of the engine? year, model, engine displacement, etc.?
Ayuh,..... That's Right,..... except the 3.0l has just a down-pipe, not a y-pipe,.....You need to take off the necessary exhaust manifold hardware that allows inspection of the Y pipe that connects to the transom assembly.
Might be able to just remove the rubber hose joint but might require more removal for access.
The exhaust shutters are in the top of the Y pipe to prevent a large influx of sudden water flow flooding into the engine.
Since you found parts of it, you need to inspect for more broken parts in the Y pipe and replace missing/damaged exhaust shutters.
Thanks Bondo & havoc!Ayuh,..... That's Right,..... except the 3.0l has just a down-pipe, not a y-pipe,.....
do a parts search for the proper flappers per your serial numberThanks Bondo & havoc!
Any idé of what the part number of the shutter is? They differ from different year models I guess?
Thanks! But, where do I find a good site for that? The ones I've tried only shoes writings of transom parts... Can't find a picture of the exhaust part, where the flapper is located...do a parts search for the proper flappers per your serial number
A sorry, think I got it now, at https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/30910/2330/190Thanks! But, where do I find a good site for that? The ones I've tried only shoes writings of transom parts... Can't find a picture of the exhaust part, where the flapper is located...
Seen too many recent V6 and V8 threads so I probably seen a mirage of them on this thread when the engine model wasn't on the initial post.Ayuh,..... That's Right,..... except the 3.0l has just a down-pipe, not a y-pipe,.....
