2003 5.0 Vortec i/o Tstat housing sensor connection

This new to me 5.0 has a wire connection under the Tstat housing .The connection seems to be a push tab connector with an additional wire with loop connector under the push tab.It does not seem to be able to make a solid connection on the additional wire.I experienced erratic temp gage last season .See pic .The right angle connector can only push on,I think there is something missing..?? BTw ,I had to remove a hose to access the connection and see it clearly.Charlie

Swap it for a ring terminal and a nut. I'd also, while I was at it, pull the water temp sender and wire brush it to get it and the hole is screws into shiny bright and reinstall.

Looks very much like someone's been messing about. Tan wire is the temp gauge, that tan/blue wire is for the alarm system and should be connected to a switch, not a gauge sender...

Thanks ,I was thinkin the same but the snap on is tight and the ring below it looks like thats where I should put the nut since it is always a little loose.Charlie

This engine is new to me last year.It replaced one of my 1988 5.0 LX that had a bad winter.The boatyard had some modifications to make with wiring to get everything to work.Charlie

Does the alarm work? Get the engine running, then ground that ring terminal (take it off the sender first). I bet the alarm sounds. Now find out which alarm switch is either without its wire, or been removed and its hole plugged.. (I'll bet you can't find an over-temperature switch. )
