Your model number indicates 20 inch long shaft.
Lots of people say 2 stroke outboards somewhat can't be determined by compression. That being said, you need to have it. Being even is also important. That motor was around 140 new and I've seen that still run good at 100 or even 90. I've also seen them let go at 110. If your in the 120 to 130 range than you've got good milage left if something else doesn't fail. Remember your outboard is pushing 40 years old. Omc made damn fine running motors if you asked me. As for your model number, here is the breakdown for the future. Looks like you have a tiller motor. Enjoy your boating.
The model number guide you posted is for 1999 and newer.
Yes, 80 and newer. But here is another posting and this one says T is for trim and tilt. Go figure.
If you look closely at the model number guide in post #8 it CLEARLY says 1999 and newer. You may be smarter then everybody else here about Outboards. But please do not tell me I can't read.

How can there be a sample listing of 1999 on a guide that is from 1980 to 1998 ?????? The sample listing is 1999 yes but LOOK very closely at the HEADING of the guide in post #8 ... No matter how hard you try you can't tell me it doesn't say Outboards 1999 and newer.
I will settle this. I believe hard is correct even though they are quite similar. Top days 99 through, bottom day 1980 through. In the original lace I found them if you hit visit 3 times you get this. It's sponsored by marine engine.com so who knows. There is subtle differences between the two.
It was the smaller size of the first one that made me look twice.. Also I'm pretty sure they didn't have 3 cylinder 25 and 35 in 1980 when the guide was first used.
Did they have four strokes in 1980? Because the guide you insist is from 1980 does..
