jack plate wiring

I am mounting a jack plate with tilt it has 2 wires, what will i need to wire, is it possible to work without relays? any help, ideas appreciated, thanks

relays are there to carry high current loads that common switches can't otherwise the arcing will eventually burn the contacts or worst...weld them shut

relays allow you to control the transfer of these high currents without looping to/back from console switch positions.

you need to know the current draw to be handled and use the proper wire size between the relays and the motor .

do i have to have relays?
no, you can have a really really really heavy duty switch rated at 60 amps.

that switch will need to be custom made because it doesnt exist on the shelf.

they make fairly inexpensive reversing solenoids for winches that work with the Parker/Oildyne EHA actuator. good ones with the SAE J1171 rating are about $70. then a $5 switch can be used.

so the unit i have has 2 wires i can put the wires on my battery one way up, switch the wires goes down
