I have inherited this boat, but it is not running and will cost $20k to restore. I am not a boater and have no interest in restoration. I see many parts on this boat are very expensive and wonder if it would be feasible for me to sell it for parts and if so, where would I start?
The boat is in Alabama.

What ever they give you.

The hull will need work. My guess is max $1000 assuming the boat is in fair shape

However it's a project

350 hp as in 454s or are they small block 350 cubic inch . engines . Trannies and engine if 454s might be worth 3 - 4 grand . All other parts are a crapshoot as your trying to find someone looking for parts for a 48 year old boat . I would just walk away from it unless your a gluten for a major headache.

You inherited it, so you have no stake in it nor any capital. No loss for you any way you look at it.

Go on NADA and look up what it would be worth. That's your base number.

Donate it to some charitable organization that accepts boats. They will sell it and make a profit, to give to poor children or some other group. Use the base number as your tax deduction.

In the end you will make more that trying to sell it, plus you will have the satisfaction of helping others.

I know a lot of people that have yard sales or sell their crap on Craigslist. Personally, I simply donate any un-needed stuff to the Salvation Army and I don't even bother taking the tax deduction. Some things are more important than worrying about a few dollars. Plus, the donation is simply a lot less hassle.

Why not go over to the carver yacht owners website and let them know what you have and see what kind of feedback you get
