1989 88hp set timing on muffs to tdc

88hp Johnson 1989 model set timing on muffs to tdc as soon as engine starts timing goes to 35* without timing base moving. Any ideas

Might want to check the TDC physically through the #1 plug hole to confirm the flywheel key is not sheared. There is a tool on Amazon for $10. Or do it roughly with a pencil for a quick check.

Already have. Everything seems good except timing jumps way high when started. I have replaced all electrical co.ponents except trigger base it checks good.
