You might want to take the time and scroll down to the bottom of the page and read all of the reviews before you decide to by a cheap made in china carburetor from amazon.com.. Or anybody.
I was looking for a rebuild kit for my 2 barrel Mercarb when I came across many cheap carbs for my boat. I was very tempted to by one until i came across several reviews about boat fires and other problems with the cheap aftermarket carburetors.

DO NOT buy any of that trash. If you want to have a safe boat and your old carb is beyond rebuilding, there are options yes they cost money but quality and safety always do. You would be better off taking your carb to a hot rod shop and get it rebuilt by people who know what they are doing, or, if in need of a 2bbl and new is the only option, buy a new Holley 2bbl.

This is like the $50-80 bellows kits… a few will work ok the rest will sink the boat…

a decent carb kit from a place like mikes carb parts or cliffs , and hour , and a six pack good to go.. and yes you gotta do a few of them twice or thrice until you get it right…

a few years back, I purchased a rebuilt Quad-jet ( not a kit) from an American company. The company was listed on Ebay as American. It worked great.

I do my own. They aren't rocket science lol.
I remember years ago when we were kids and these carbs were on nearly everything GM made, we were told by the old timers that a Quadrajet was too complex for beginners like us to fool around with. Same with Autolite 4300s on some Fords. The Holley modular design was the most popular with performance applications then as it is now.
However, IMHO the Quadrajet is a superior carb for street and marine applications for a few reasons, one, less places to leak fuel, another, small primaries with triple venturi boosters, and one carb, more adaptable to different engine sizes, (if you know how to set them up).

I also rebuild my own. Not very difficult. Be neat, clean, and organized. There are plenty of instructions online, in your repair manual, and even printed with your rebuild kit. Arrange the parts in the order you remove them and replace in reverse order with all the new parts.

My Dad always told me "never throw away an old part until the new one is in place and running"! Words of wisdom that I always follow, lol.

That explains a few things. It looks to me like I got really lucky my boat ran so great last year with that power valve piston looking the way it is. Unfortunately the rebuild kit i have didnt include that part. Fortunately thanks to Scott06 I found the part asap at Mikes carbs.

Thanks a lot. You just reminded me that the guy who sold me the boat was bragging about how he just installed new bellows. Now if I ever get past this carb problem I going to be worried that I might have to swim home if he went cheap on the bellows! lol

with any new to you boat, always do a bellows job, an impeller job and an alignment job before you even use it.

And inspect your battery cables, for corrosion going from the terminal up the wire, which greatly increases resistance. Inspect and clean all return paths.
