The manual for my Mercury 60hp Bigfoot ourboard, in the section on changing and adding oil, says "add oil to the proper level". My oil filler cap has no dipstick, so what is the Proper Level ?
There is a Yellow cap, but it is JUST a cap, no dipstick. Surprised the ... out of me. I think maybe I need to go to a marina and buy a new one.
Then again, just went thru a bunch of part schematics looking for a part number but I did not see what looks like my engine. Did find one diagram that had a "dipstick" but on my engine that part says "Engine Oil Lock" on it, and I have no idea what that is so I left it alone. So MAYBE, the Engine Oil Lock IS the dipstip and the Yellow cap is just a filler ? That might actually make sense. Unfortunately the engine is 3hr away, so I have to wait a while to check.
