any idea of what this is for?

i cant find any info on this button pad ... its on 1974 chieftain 18. has out board engine on it. any ideas what this would have been for? do i need it?

Power tilt and trim switch panel. You don't need it if you're adding controls with the TnT switches.

i have mercury controller that has the trim up down on the throttle handle. checked it and it works. so i can get rid of the button pad then....
