Throttle control stiff

2005 Yamaha 150. I have to really put some force behind the lever to get the throttle to respond. Is this normal?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Not really,.... Have you lubed it,..??
Could also be bad cables,....

Not a cable expert but have come across some that the first 3' is a non-marine grease used and starts to harden up. Gentle heat gun, I mean gentle!! Some penetrant spray...

Started with loosening the tension screw at the helm end. So... 3 feet from the control or the motor?
