I have a 2014 Evinrude E-TEC 115 with about 1/8-1/4” of prop play.

Model is E115DGLAFB and it has a Michigan Wheel 011003 13.25x17 prop with what appears to be the standard “without keeper” bushing and spacer setup (copied from the manual):

Models without cotter pin “keeper”
  1. Thrust bushing
  2. Spacer
  3. Cotter pin
  4. Propeller Nut
Any suggestions on how to remove this play?

Most kits that can be ordered seem to have a nylon/plastic spacer. Mine is metal and is 0.27” thick.

I feel that a thicker spacer would stop the castle nut from bottoming out on the splines.

I’ve attached images and two videos illustrating the play.

wrong prop spacer
I don’t see a lot of options available online. Is this something an experienced Evinrude mechanic (or just any outboard mechanic) would easily remedy? The manual glosses over prop installation.

At the suggestion of “mead” on the etecownersgroup.com forum, I will try the following and report back:

“You might be able to correct by just installing the a different spacerwasher but we don’t know if the main thrust bushing is correct. Suggest you start with the complete Evinrude propeller hardware kit pn 5005034. Thrust bushing, spacer, nut and cotter pin. This is designed for an Evinrude propeller with a pressed-in rubber bushing.”

Circling back...this is the prop kit I ended up installing:

SKU: 98-364-49K
OE#: 5005034
BRAND: SEI MARINE
PROP NUT KIT, WITH THRUST WASHER, 400 SERIES
$36.74

I was not able to get into the Evinrude dealer I use in Minocqua, WI so it was DIY. The result was perfect with no prop play.

Thanks again, mead on the etecownersgroup.com forum, for the advice.
