do you want to replace the grommets or the wire?
I know where to disconect the other wires accept for the blue & green trim wires. I don't think I can disconnect at the trim motor. Maybe at the relay? But don't know where that is located at.

Thank you for the reply. Just the grommet.
this is just my opinion but instead of tearing everything apart, a tube of silicone, pump it around everything, let dry. good to go.

I was planning on cutting them and use butt splice connectors. Then heat shrink. What do you think?

every time you cut and splice something, creating a future problem. pull the wires up, use some duck tape ( quack quack ) to keep up. silicone under, let it dry, usually about a six pack, remove tape and silicone top

boat doesn't always mean break out another thousand. sometimes just another ten. jmo

LOL. Ok thank you. That way seems to be the safest way.

What do you think about cutting the new grommet to run the wires through and marine caulk after?
whatever you want to do, enough time on your hands, we as a species we tend to overthink everything. wait another minute people on here ( not dropping any names ) they will tell you to check compression, rebuild the carbs and make sure your bilge pump works. SILICONE AND BE DONE. spend more time on the water. in 20 years, will it really matter? JMO

I would think following the wires from the T&T switches to the relay would show you where that is located or follow the wires from the T&T motor to the relay.
or your service manual should give you some info

Thank you. Will try to look for the relay.

I would do as 99yam40 said.....the grommet protects those wires from chafing and shorting out on the metal cowling....find a way to disconnect them and run them through the new grommet. No need to put silicone all over it and make a mess.....

Do you have the new grommet yet? A lot of times such things already have a split in them in order to fit the wires in place. The split you can see in the old one may be factory made for that reason. You might be able to push the old one out of the cowling and put the new one on without unplugging anything. I would def not cut wires, thats creating more potential problems then you are trying to solve.
