Does anyone know specifically which tools are included in the "level 1" service kit PN# 3855955 for the DP-S drive? VP says it has everything needed to disassemble and reassemble the lower unit and reseal. There is another level 2 kit for shimming gears. I'm wondering if the level 1 kit includes any of the drivers and pullers used on bearing races and want to know what I'm getting for $1k. The cost of specialty tools for working on these things just about has me ready to jump ship to a different boat, haha.

Very true, but fortuneately I've got a good selection of the "general" tools like that on hand. As a DIY'er the number and cost of specialty VP tools required is getting me to reconsider this brand. Live and learn I guess.

Good to know, Makes me feel a little better. I'm not familiar enough with Merc special tools... Just noticed a lot more aftermarket Merc tools so assumed they were a lot cheaper.

Biggest issue with VP parts is the cost of them, Merc is high but VP is higher
