Shift Rod Question

Have a 1994 Johnson V4 120 hp with model number J120TLERC. I had to replace the lower unit, and I am struggling with finding the correct length for the shift rod for this motor and any tricks to get it hooked back up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

set it at 21-15/16"----There are no tricks needed for the simple job of putting the pin in.----Did you take note of the direction of offset at the top of the rod ?----Do you know the procedure for setting the shift rod height ?

Thanks for the info. Yes, the offset/hole was facing forward. The procedure as in where to measure from to the center of the hole? Also, it should be in neutral correct?
