Trying to figure out which year lower units I can search for to replace my 2015 Evinrude Etec 90 (E90DPGLAFB). I found an 09 Etec 90hp lower unit for a good price, but not sure if it will work or not.
Stripped teeth on pinion gear ???-----Those new style lower units are not robust.-----Many older V-4 units from years gone by will fit with driveshaft / shift rod change.

Yea, I haven't taken it apart but I would assume so. I drained the oil and it had small metal bits and the oil looks all metallic. I've heard that from a few people now, so I'm gonna try that out. Thanks!
Fit a gearcase from an earlier V-4 crossflow , say a 1980 to 97 as they were better.----The gearcases that use the 2 tabs to hold bearing carrier are not robust.----A good dealer would help you with the upgrade.
