Teeth on flywheel good, rope is correct. I can move the gear about 0.080 sideways on the shaft . I know for sure it’s the correct gear,don’t know why it’s so loose on the shaft.
Yes have the pin installed. It just seems like the id of the gear is too big,I know that sounds crazy but it’s very loose on the shaft.Do you have the roller pin? Stupid question I know, but i've had the obvious pass me by more than once.

You must have gotten a bad part. I replaced that same gear a couple weeks ago on my little Johnson 6 hp and it worked perfectly fine.
