bow navigation wire runs through the railing… where does it come into the main section?

The bow navigation wire runs through the railing… it’s a gray and black wire
I’ve got a short somewhere in Navigation light wiring. Does anyone know the route the wires run from the bow to ???? Has anyone ever pulled new wiring??

The wiring will most likely be coming up one of the ends thru the end nut-penny, most likely on the helm side.

it would be too difficult to run the wires up a stanchion.

The wires have probably rubbed thru all their insulation at each end of the hand rails base mounting areas.

I can’t see it without taking a bunch of things apart. Anyone actually see which stanchin the wires come from?

I wounder if there would there be any kind of wiring diagram that shows how the wires are ran through the boat? Thanks

I’ve personally ran wires through the rails. It’s a bugger of a job and some go easy. usually I pick the first stanchion. They can be run under the headliner or wall sections if they can be loosened enough to get in there. A couple of them I could run it through the chain locker and down through the bilge area, of course protecting the wires in those areas. Boats are not user friendly when adding wiring or electronics! Hiding stuff can be a challenge. You can run new wires but it’s not always easy for a first timer. It could require two people. You can use the old wire to pull the new wires through. Just don’t make a big ball of tape attaching them together. I use stainless sezing wire to fish through the rail and attach the wire to that when pulling.

Deck fittings are installed before the cap is fastend to the hull. So that length of wire was probably run from the bow pulpit when the stations were mounted, my guess is it runs down from the nearest stantion to the light on the starboard side.

Yes, I see where it goes into the Stantion at the bow from inside the Anchor locker, I'm just seeing if anyone knows where it comes into the helm area, There is a Stantion before and one after the helm to check the wires there. Thanks

since we make similar bow rails at work, I do not think it would go thru the stanchion because it is too difficult to make the wire do the 90 degree turn. We run all of ours back to the aft mounting pad / nut-penny thru a hollow stud.

However can not comment on your 27 year old SeaRay as I have not found drawings going back that far on the data server and I do not want to go thru the paper archives
