Probably bring half back home to enjoy another day, can't handle being stuffed full anymore.

Wow that is a heck of a cut. On a good night and if the cut of beef is good I might be able to finish that (might)
my girlfriend did not finish hers, not even close. we shared hers for breakfast the next two days.
It was excellent. Great taste. Waiter said they get it from texas.

I haven’t had ox tail in many years. Sometimes I look for it but they don’t have any. I saw a pack yesterday and grabbed it then saw the price and back on the shelf it went. $65.00. When the hell did this happen? I heard its become more popular lately but WTF.

I had never tried oxtail so a few years ago I tried an oxtail recipe that you did in a cast iron pot on a smoker. It turned out inedible, terrible flavor. I’m not objectionable to give it another chance if prepared differently.

I make Ossobuco with it and it’s amazing.
Once considered a trash meat and now apparently a delicious cut that cost a small fortune.

Yeah that sounds horrible. It is a VERY rich and beefy flavor. Low and slow in the oven after a sear. Onions, carrots, etc. Standard stuff. Over mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cheap red wine and I'm in heaven.

That sound like a mis mark. I bought maybe a year ago at around 7 bucks lb.

I was going to check the price per lb today but they didn’t have any. It was likely right though I live in on a very expensive island. I shelled out $38.00 a lb on Ribeye tonight. Dogs having surgery tomorrow and I wanted her to have a great dinner. Next time I see the ox tail I’ll do a price check.

I have heard wonderful things about the Costco
I have never been. I have been off the island 3 times in the past 8 years. Maybe someday I will make a trip there.

We are seeing what used to be pet food is now being sold as posh tucker . Lamb shanks ,ox tail , lamb neck chops ,ox tongue , beef cheeks ,pork hocks .
I get a bit ox ox tail as I know the home kill guy, weird that some farmers dont want the tail, but try and find it in the supermarket , some boutique butchers will have such stuff but they know how to charge .
Faaaaaaark Im pleased I wasnt bought up during a war .......some of the crap my Grand parents and parents ate to get protein ......they ate the bollocks , the feet .......yugh .
When I was a kid Mum would buy a side of lamb for 15 bucks and the butcher would throw in the shanks for the dog ,and chicken was an expensive treat . Now chicken is poor peoples food ...like 4 bucks / kg and lamb is the treat at 20 -28 bucks / kg .
Blue cod , arguably NZ's best table fish is now selling for 75/kg , which is bad if you dont have a boat but good if you do coz me and the Mrs can catch about 15 kg (of processed fillets ) thats $1100 aprox .......not that we get our limit every time but it sure does pay for the fuel etc .😀
