I have looked it to that carb thanks. What did this motor come with? A Q-jet? I think I have found a rebuilt pre vortec Q-jet for about $500 locally. Any good?
Ayuh,...... If it had a carb, it was the Weber/ Merc carb, which is an exact carbon copy of the 1409 I mentioned before,.....

interesting. I did find a shower hose but it just has a cap on it. the heater would be under the dash correct?
Probably not
Many skiers that go in the cooler months will install a heater. The motor circulates water thru the heater and a 12V fan blows air thru the coil supplying warm air.

Could also be for hot water heater but then the boat would need a water tank

it did come with a hot water shower. I've seen other skirays with it as an option as factory. I'll trace it back at some point if I care. I really don't need a shower on a boat or a heater. I was just making sure that capped off hose wasn't supposed to be routed somewhere as the PO has obviously been messing with things. Thanks for all your help everyone. Basically I have a 1998 Ski Mag with a swapped in crate block with and auto carb and possibly an auto starter

I'm not a chevy guy so bear with me. Am I just dealing with an old 350 ski mag with a swapped in block? my original post already says I know the carb isn't marine. That's why I am trying to identify what I am dealing with so I can get the appropriate carb etc. HP estimation on this motor? Thanks
HP on the. 4 bbl pre vortecs like yours were 260 hp. This assume the cam is stock marine or truck/rv which it most likely is

verify your starter is marine which normally say J11 xxx on it forget the exact numbering. Your ignition is a merc Thunderbolt V so you are good there

Yeah it's a marine q jet for 5.7l pre vortec.

So the 1409 is the way to go then?
Then that Q-jet is older than your boat by 9 years

Your Mercruiser would have most likely come with a webber (almost drop in replacement for Q-jet

I would do the 1409 for most simple drop in

(Who am I kidding.....I'm a Holley guy)

There's one in every crowd... With Edlebrock on a merc you can use the factory throttle cable bracket (p/n 805359T) off the 357 crate motors for a factory appearance (and mounting for the 50 amp breaker and starter slave relay on some like mine).

Would assume holley + VP would be the same

Does anyone know of a reputable company that sells remanufactured edelbrocks? $900 plus tax for a new 1409 up here in Canada right now.

its weird that Amazon.com has $571 and Amazon.CA has 877

maybe buy it from Summit Racing and have shipped to your facility and pay the $50 customs charge.

one's in USD and the other is CAD most likely.
conversion rate isnt it using todays conversion. however added customs on top of the conversion would.

maybe look for a damaged boat from a towing accident

I know Summit ships to Canada, Germany, Australia, and Scotland based off hotrod buddies

so I got ahold of the previous owner and apparently he still has the stock carb and is going to send it to me next week so stay tuned. If it actually is the original carb, I am sure it will need a rebuild. I asked why they changed it. He said it was fine we just wanted more power and got it with the avs2. That carb is 800cfm which I believe is way too big for a base 350. I fired her up yesterday on the fake a lake and it was set to idle at 1000 rpms. I tried to bring the idle down and by 900 rpms it just dies. So I'll see what he sends me and then I'll post pics and go from there. Worst case I just by the new 1409. I have a couple of months before we hit the cabin for the holidays. Thank you all for the help so far
