I am at the point of rebuilding my old boats interior. Pics to come soon. I am removing the doghouse and reading with a sundeck similar to the 1989 SeaRay 160 Super Sport models.
Before the new seat layout goes in I want opinions on carpet and flooring. I want the flooring to be EVA foam but I wonder about the side walls. Recarpet or paint/gel coat white?

To gel the sides would take a bit more work than recarpeting, unless you are also replacing the floor. EVA will highlight any uneven spots in the floor, so get it as smooth as you can first.

I am in the process of rebuilding the doghouse and replacing it with a sundeck. The goal of my build is inspired by two other boats. The Chaparral Ski & Fish and the Tahoe

Tahoe:

I am going to rip the cooler design from the Tahoe and the removable fishing seats from the Chapparal. I need help with the fishing seat mounts. The standard mounts that are under a seat have a spring the makes the seat sit 2.5" above the bench. This is too high in my opinion and the Chaparral appears to sit lower. Anyone know if the Chappie sits lower and what they use? I have looked at the Chappie parts catalogs and cannot find the solution.

Are there base plates without the spring? Do I need the spring? I get its purpose but do I need it on the base?

I don't recall any springs on my rear seats...I have the Chap you're modeling after. Just plain pedestals that slip into the bases shown in the picture. The backrest keeps it from rotating on the back bench.

Rather simple setup.

I can probably get you pics if it isn't raining tonight of the rear seats...but they haven't changed much so if you have a Chappy dealer around you might be quicker to take a gander...

Chap is buying either Springfield or TACO or Attwood/Garelick or other seat bases.

Thanks, I would appreciate a look at your seat bases. If possible could you measure the pole. I was considering cutting the springs off the ones I have but I suspect tge pole is shorter on tge pre-made bases without springs.

It'll be a hot minute but I'll see about getting some pics when I get home.

I checked Scott's links and nothing there looked like what I have. Then again, my boat is 8 years old so no doubt at some point they may have ceased production.

Hopefully there's some markings on the underside of the seats - I've honestly never checked.

are you leaving yourself a way out for servicing the engine with the panels that are either side of it? I left what I though was enough room in my Bayliner, but it sucks doing anything below the manifolds as tight as I have it. The only good thing I have going for it is I can lay down on the deck and access everything or ponder over my life decisions up to that point.
