decades ago I called their racing division about using the Hi 5.
I was told NOT NOT to use the prop due to losses in it. I went to Power Tech instead.
More blades are ONLY ONLY needed if the engine is too powerful and there is NO MORE room for a larger diameter more efficient prop.

Interesting reading here, brings back memories if my youth from the late 50's thru mid 60's. I learned to ski on a 14' tinnie with an 18 up outboard and got up with no problem as did my 150# brother. Dad could pull two of us behind his 16' Lyman and 35 hp outboard. I read about today's V-8 engines having trouble pulling up a single skier ? My how times have changed.....

The High 5 is actually smaller in Diameter than the 3 and 4 Blade Props Mercury sells, and the Blades are a lot smaller.

I too learned to ski behind a 2 Stroke 40hp, even did some deep water starts on a Slalom Ski behind it. I too have also noticed that with the 4 Strokes, 150hp on a 15 ft boat, can barely pull a skier on 2 skis.
