I have a question about the marine navigation system

While sailing today, the navigation screen suddenly went black. After restarting, it turned back on, but the positioning keeps jumping and shows “weak signal.” I confirmed the antenna isn't obstructed, and it worked fine in the same area before. Is this a hardware failure, or do I need to reset some settings?

What system? What model?

Is this a new to you boat, or an old boat with a new problem?

“Weak signal” is an obstruction of some sort, physical/electrical, or a wiring/hardware issue unless you’re around a military installation. Then all bets are off

Check the connections for power and antenna to the nav system. Look for corrosion, causing resistance.

"the navigation screen suddenly went black" this sounds like a power issue.
"“weak signal.” this sounds like an antenna issue. Is there an option to see the number of and strength of the received satellite signals. Do you have voltage going to the antenna?
