Good morning all. I have a multiple questions regarding a Merc fully restored I just purchased. serial number 6033659 cant find a conclusive year online yet.

Questions.
1. year ? 2. harness is an 8 pin plus 4 wires ( grey = ? ) ( purple = ? ) ( black yellow stripe = ?) ( yellow red stripe = ? ) ( brown stripe blue = ? ) and yellow black stripe.
Assuming red positive and black ground.
external 4 wires blue white stripe and green white stripe I believe is trim up and down and brown white stripe and brown electric choke? I'm not sure if this 1980's has electric choke? one of the previous owners got ride of the dual fuel / oil tank and was mixing directly into one tank and from what I found so far online a specific procedure should be done at the mechanic fuel pump on the engine and seems to me original no bypass of any sort. this engine considering the year would it have sensors for all the gauges I recieved with it? Tachometer / Volts / oil psi / temperature alarm buzzer? I thank all who take the time to help with above questions I'm sure will have a few more :)

The decals are for the 1976 model year.----What HP is this motor ?-----No chokes , as it appears to have an enricher unit.---serial # makes it 1985 for a 175 or 1982 for 200 HP near as I can tell.

gray= tach sender wire
purple= switched 12v power
black/yellow= kill circuit
yellow/red= starter circuit
brown/blue= temp gauge
yellow/black= choke/enrichner circuit

these colors stand for all merc wiring i know from at least 1980 up.. they have never changed as for as i know..........

its a 1982 200.............. put a "0" (06033659) as first number for serial number and it should show up on most parts sites....

Thank you thank you... do you have any knowledge about the fuel mix setup they had vs original dual tank? if anything should have been bypassed fuel pump etc properly for me to ensure it was done correctly. I will add a few more question to my original post regarding power trim system.

Good morning all. when reading some replies my Merc included a cluster of gauges oil PSI / Volts / temp / tac and fuel level. can anyone confirm if this outboard has sensor for oil PSI / Volt fuel I'm aware its seperate. the harness that was included is an 8 pin plus 4 that was confirmed as to what those 4 wires are for thank you once again to all for the valuable feedback

Decals as racerone says 1976 and also 1977 (decals called "hockey sticks").
But in 1976 and 77 there was no 200Hp, the Black Max was 175Hp those years.

There should be a serial plate inside the towel as well as on the outside , both starboard i believe. Make sure they match.

hi all. you could see the old decal on the hood under paint also 200. the serial tag and the frost plug has the same number as mention on my first post.if this help the heads no is 95081. another question is it possible this engine didn't have an actual temperature sensor reading on line where it should be and there is none nor a plate / plug where one could have been. I just started the engine at the warf and all seems running nicely so far not tested under load mind you. and ouf takes fuel fast :) compared to my previous engine Suzuki DT85 :)

one thing for sure tha motor in tha picture is NOT a 200 with vertical reeds but even MercNet says tha number is a 200??? its either a 150 or 175... if tha year is right ('82) its a 150.. no 175's in '82.... tha over temp sensor should be mounted between 1 and 3 spark plugs by a triangle shaped flat stock piece with holes in tha corners for bolts and one in tha top middle for tha sensor...

Thank you for the feed back I have to say regardless of seeing the old 200 decal under the new decal I can't argue that it's a 200 or not, seen some strange scams in my lifetime.... will check sensor location you suggested and can take as many pictures as need to confirm if this outboard is a whatever HP :) Im always blown away by the members here taken the time to help wow THANK YOU ALL.....

need a picture of tha "clamp tag" and one of tha welsh plug.. look in this area (pic below) for tha build date.. its there but sometimes hard ta see.. will be m/d/yr.. tha one below is a very good stamping (high performance).. thats on tha "block half" at tha base of number two cylinder, kinda behind tha bend in tha timin' arm.. its there, jus hard ta see with some... high perf. date stamp.jpgand a lot better than most that are stamped, especially on production motors
