Good point but still question the flex and forces when being operated as compared?

This could be argued until the end of time....bottom line is, if your worried about transom weakness then buy a transom saver, if you think your motor mount is solid, then take the gamble. No one can make you decide, your boat....

I’ve already bought the transom saver and installed the mounting bracket. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t causing more harm by using it at this point.

FEAR sells
I have just tipped both motors all the wayup and latched them. That position removes ALL the outboard weight from WAY behind the transom. It now sits right over the top of the transom Preventing any constant pulling outward of the transom. Even on severe road bumps. I do strap the transom to the trailer.

Most savers that I have seen, have a spring loaded or a snubber that has some give under severe stress, yet keeps motor from flopping around. you don't want the motor to flop up and down, yet some kind of give or control in a severe situation. It is the constant flopping up and down that causes severe issues.

Just fully tilt it up and lock it there. Transom straps to trailer.
Bow winched tight and safety chain snug.
I know. I have the only good boat that Lowe ever built.

you're not
The tilt latch is not to be used for trailering according to my merc. manufacturer. Even for my 60 the manual said no. Doesn't mean you can't, but....My placard says 115hp max, doesn't mean I can't physically put a bigger motor on it, but......
my saver twists into the center mounted bracket. I lower the motor into the rubber lined "y" support. I then bump the tilt and watch when my motor pod first flexes, then I bump it up a to remove the flex. ( it's a pontoon) Yes, the whole motor pod will flex. I could imagine what that pod/transom would be doing without a support. Thankfully, my previous 60hp didn't appear to damage anything.
for me, really glad I got it.

The roads here in my part of Pa. are pitiful. Transom saver all the way.
Roads aren’t too bad around here, but I do
100-200 miles of washboard gravel in Canada every year.

15 mph would make sense, and 40 mph will bounce you into the ditch.
