Any recommendations for a good set of muffs specifically for Volvo Penta out drive.?
The pair I have leak like crazy and I have to use Quick Clamps on them to get a half way decent seal
The ones I use are rectangle as opposed to round, they seem to cover the inlet ports better.

The best I have found is the Merc/Quicksilver round ones with the rod clamp. Those have to pass the rod thru the holes on the lower unit to work, they appear to be made out of softer rubber than the typical rectangular ones so they seal better.

welcome to the forum.

If you are wanting no leakage you wont find it.

Remember you are just running enough to fire up and make sure what you have done keep the engine able to start, maybe rev up a couple times. You are NOT running down the lake at WOT.

They all leak a bunch.

these, the rubber is softer and more compliant and with the clamp you can get them tight and they can't fall off.

they all leak, and with the hose on high, it should spray about 10 feet from behind the muffs until the motor is started.

the quicksilver ones will NOT work on the earlier AQ series drives.

they do make Volvo Penta specific muffs.

you still need a rubber stopper for the bottom pickup, and you need to tie a zip-tie or cord around the two cups to hold it to the drive in the correct location.

the elastic band lasts about 10 years.

You can tell these are working well by how much water is coming out of the idle reliefs, right in front of and above that front anode.....

I used to use the Tempo rectangular dual inlet muffs but the stiff rubber and rectangular shape just didn't seal that well.

I have gone back to using a barrel in the fall to assure all the salt is washed out of the cooling system. I also use the barrel to reassure me that the water pump is working properly.

For "proof of start" before launching I use the flusher.

Muffs should NOT be used to check water pump as the hose pressure can cause enough pressure to create a false reading !!
