Proper Oil For Oil Bath Hubs

What is the preferred oil for oil bath hubs?

I've heard any 80-90 weight gear oil is OK; I've read you should use oil made for hypoid rear ends, and other recommendations.

Lucas Oil sells a Hub Oil, and Amsoil has a synthetic 75-90W that they claim protects with 15% water contamination (I actually use this on a saildrive unit).

My hubs are from EZ Loader, who sells a Chevron product, but EZLoader is who said 80-90 gear oil was one option.

So I'm asking the experts!

No expert just old, and I use Dino gear lub because while Synthetic is better, it also doesn't take much to have it leak out of a seal.

Here is something kinda on/off target...
We had a Rollercoaster at one of the places I worked at and depending on the temp out we would go from 10wt to 40wt. And in mid summer we would switch to grease. It was all about adjusting speed. Oil did make an awful mess. I have no experience with boat trailer oil hubs so

Ayuh,...... I use the same oil as I use in the outdrive,.....

Good point. Using synthetic on my saildrives I've managed to achieve about the same pressure on both sides of the seal, but can't do that on wheel seals!
