Yeah me to ,I got taken out at 46 (14/06/2009)....havnt worked since ...now 63 , came over the brow of a humpy back hill on my Ducati to find someone reversing back up the hill ...slammed into him at 120km/h-ish broke both S A joints ,right hip socket ,I could see my femur sticking out of my motorbike pants ,broke rh tib and fib , all the bones in my right foot , lacerated liver ,ruptured right kidney , spleen ascending colon and tore small intestine ,had a end ileostomy and a bag to 5hit in , ruptured diaphram ,broke 5 ribs and punctured rh lung . Nearly didnt make it . After 29 separate opps I had right leg amputated above knee . Then I find out the driver had already killed someone else driving like a #uckwitt. I dont have ptsd but my partner does ...still getting treatment /medication for it .
So what else you got you pratt 🤨 ....stop feeling sorry for yourself .
Im definitely out this time, kiss my ass
PS, Oops ,forgot about the 4 broken vertebrae ,the 5 plates and 24 screws in my pelvis 😁
Damn sorry to hear all that happened to you That's why I sold my bike It's not safe out there people don't pay attention. And you don't have to help if you don't want to it's fine with me I will one day figure this out with or without the help of anyone. A little too stubborn just throw in the towel. But I don't feel sorry for myself The comment about being disabled and wanting a boat was so I don't get bored out of my mind sitting around the house all damn day. There is absolutely nowhere around where you can fish from the bank and catch anything except bluegill and perch. So I wish you the best Don't worry about trying to help me I appreciate anything you did try to do. But don't be pissed at me that somebody hit you on the bike cuz I didn't do it.

To anyone following not wanting to be rude. I started back at ground zero and it found that the output voltage from my brand new $400 amplifier is only 46 volts which is obviously not enough I took the time cleaned all of my grounds insured I wasn't losing any input voltage It drops to 10.2 while cranking and of course this is after I've been messing with it all day trying to crank it. Luckily for me marineengine.com says that they have a one-year warranty on this particular amplifier so I will be contacting them.

You have 1 wire going from the points to the cd box, but there is another wire coming out from under the cap that makes a ground for the breaker plate. check to see it the breaker plate has a good ground. Load test the ground with a halogen headlight bulb hooked to B+

Are you talking about wire the ground while it is still connected to the engine or disconnected to just check I guess the connection underneath? If I hook it to the batteries positive and I use the same ground where that wire going to the points grounds then yes my marker light that I used lights up just fine and it's not an LED light. But this is what the wire still connected to the ground do I need to disconnect it and test?

The amplifier I bought does have a warranty so I will hopefully get that money back to purchase a newer aftermarket one The one I bought was the last one on the shelf of an obsolete part probably made in the '70s

Are you testing your amplifier voltage to the coil with a DVA adaptor?
And no I thought it did but I just looked it up and it doesn't have it built in, I used it while I was a mechanic. I will get one. I did get a high reading when I checked the first time after installation. Or maybe it was in my head. I don't know. But before I return anything I will get that adapter and test again.

are you testing for ac or dc voltage cd box to coil?
I have to admit that I have asked AI some questions, according to it the type of diodes are electrolytic or something like that and apparently they're known to degrade over time just sitting even unused, so it does make sense that it could go bad instantly according to a Google is told of course I had to correct AI so many times about things that told me my boat had that it doesn't have. I had even emailed marineengine.com before the part ever arrived and asked them if they had ever heard of this they said no but everything is pointing right back to my amplifier. I knew buying a $600 boat was too good to be true.

If your not using a DVA adaptor, then test on ac voltage
I didn't get anything on ac I had it on the wrong setting earlier when I was testing. I don't mind spending the $30 for the adapter. I will definitely check out that link tomorrow, I have to dig out my laptop haven't used it in a while.

Thank you

Have you checked the Rotor? Cracks, Carbon Tracks, Continuity?
Yes I have, they are both new, but I did double check everything multiple times. I get the trigger signal as I should from the points to the amplifier, after testing the amplifier again I do not have the output voltage to the coil like I should, I removed and cleaned all grounds, checked for voltage drop all is in spec. I have already contacted marineengine.com and started the return process for the amplifier. It does have a warranty.

I hope that’s it. I have gotten new parts that were junk out of the box. It does happen sometimes. My all time favorite was a brake caliper for my buddy truck that didn’t have a piston in it and it even had an inspected sticker on it. Hang in there and don’t give up.

Lol that's crazy! No piston lmao. All signs point to the amplifier. So now it's more of a waiting game it can take up to 8 weeks for them to process the return. It was the last of an obsolete part on their shelf. AI says the electrolytic diodes they used can go bad if they sit unpowered to long it also says that it's common for them to fail almost immediately. Now I get to try the aftermarket one that comes with a new ignition coil. $579 but it will have a warranty too. I ran through every test and check multiple times and no matter what I do the output voltage to the coil is 25% of what I need it to be. I think I'm on the right track....,....key word being think....lol

I think you mean Electrolytic Capacitors, they can dry out over long Periods of Time.
While there is such a thing as an Electrolytic Diode, those were an early design for Rectifiers, used in very early electronics

That makes sense, it was AI which gave me that info. I don't necessarily trust AI I had to correct it a bunch of times. It was kinda frustrating. I was so sad when it dies again. That new amplifier fired it right off and it sounded great then it didn't.... I just hope that the aftermarket part isn't just as old.

I have a Heathkit Stereo I built in 1975, it has several dozen Electrolytic Capacitors in it, and it still works...
