2007 evinrude etec 40 hp

My motor runs smooth until it is revved up. It will not go on plane on the water. I have replaced spark plugs not sure what to do next. Sounds like it might be misfiring???? Not sure.

being an ETEC look at the side LEDS on the EMM (CPU) when you run the engine. report findings top to bottom leds at

KEY ON....

motor may be entering SAFE mode with max rpms around1800 due to a sensor fault code!!
to service ETEC you should get EV diagnostics to look for trouble codes. latest SW is ver. 5.9

Ok I didn’t realize that showed issues. When it is running the injection/ignition light is glowing

that should be #2 possible open/shorted injector or ignition coil

you need EV diagnostic to get the code to be specific or... start testing ohms values on inj and coil primaries.... & compare to specs. see manual

if all good electrically ohms wise..........inj. could be dirty/plugged up .
