IM working on this boat and its got 2 canister style fuel filters, one at the tank outlet and one after the fuel pump. both are a gf481 style filter. im wondering was this an option or did someone add this? i cant see the reason for trying to suck and push fuel through 2 of these filters and retain enough pressure to do the job at the injectors (TBI).

Injectors typically require 10 micron filtration or better.

Your typical “boat” filter is 30-40 microns. Need a second filter to reduce particulate down to 10 microns

Clean filters cause very little flow restriction

1 filter is by the fuel pump, the second is a fuel water seperator that is down in the bilge. I switched mine out earlier this spring the second filter in the seperator was dirtier that the first filter.

People tend to change the inexpensive stick, rock and hose liner (neglected fuel line) catching filters annually.

They neglect the expensive, 10 micron separating filters doing all the work. Often just dumping out contaminates and reusing the filter.

Probably because it is a super expensive filter. Online at boat sites $65. While my filter was on order I tried to use carb cleaner to clean the old filter and use the boat to pull skiers it performed better but still not 100%. I did have the filters cross referenced and kept the boxes so I have part numbers for replacements. Good idea to keep spares in stock, main drive belt too. Nothing worse than entertaining at the lake and a boat goes down.
