Hey everyone. This is my first boat with only 140 hours on it and this is the third summer I've had it. Last fall I took it to a different more local place to winterize and store it and they did a number on my boat. I finally got it back from them and they said it runs but when I put it in the water I was able to cruise to the middle of the lake but when I put it under power it died. It progressively got worse to the point I couldn't even idle it up beyond starting it with the throttle up but every time I tried to put it in gear it would die. It eventually got to the point it wouldn't start anymore after about 15 attempts and had to get towed off the water. I changed the fuel water seperator but I'm nervous to put it back in the water. And the bilge pump doesn't work either. Anything else I should look at or change that could cause something like that

Only 140 hours on a 35 year old boat means it sat alot over the years . It would have has 100 hours of use in the first 3 years

How old is the fuel?

What maintenance have you done?
Impeller?
Bellows?
Alignment?
Fuel system?

Start with the basics
Do a compression test
Check fuel pressure
Check fuel filter contents (in a clear container, look for contamination)
Verify the accelerator pump is working (you may need to go thru the carburetor)
Get the bulge pump replaced

It's been winterized and stored by the same place every year until I took it to this new place. It was a one owner boat before I got it. The guy serviced it and oil changes every year. He kept it at the boat place by his cabin and only drove it twice a year. This is my first boat and didn't grow up with them so I'm very green when it comes to this stuff. I've put about 2 hours on it in the last two years and it's worked great until this new place winterized it. I checked the fuel for contamination and changed the fuel water separator filter. And continued doing oil changes when I winterized it.

Scott's questions would help. Start with how old is the fuel
