I've never fished Mille Lacs on soft water, always through the ice and never a bite. The card playing and beer drinking is usually top notch.
Where to?
We fly into Anchorage and then head to Soldotna on the Kenai river where we will stay for the week. Evenings we will fish the Kenai where we are staying. During the day, our Itinerary will look like this:
Water surface temperature is 78 degrees so the fish were not real active. The bass were not interested but we did manage to catch several not slot fish. I did get to keep 1 20" walleye.
Me too. I turn mine off if noise factors into what I am doing. I remember when you couldn’t get called unless you were home or at work. We got along just fine.
That sounds great. Half of our group went up to Homer and caught Halibut. I was in the group that went fishing out of Seward. We caught ling cod, tons of salmon, some other fish that I can't remember, and saw tons of whales doing their bubble net feeding. Cool place.
The proprietors of the lodge we are staying are from Arizona. About 7 years ago he said to his wife that it was too much to keep up 2 places and they should move to Alaska full time. She responded, "I will follow your dream until it becomes my nightmare." I thought that was a pretty good answer. They have been living there full time for 7 years now and she is still enjoying it, so all is good on the home front for the lodge owners.
