Neighbor had a big gathering this weekend he could not get his lift to drop far enough to get the pontoon to float.

Same with my buddies Mastercraft which is on a spring fed lake....

Haven’t mowed the lawn in two weeks. The grass isn’t growing much at all up here in northern Wi. The little rain we do get isn’t doing anything.

According to NOAA we are in a severe drought in our county. We are only 3” below average for the year, not sure how that equates to severe. The lakes are at full pool for the most part.

I quit watering the lawn because my submersible pump quit. Must of overheated, started back up an hr later. A new pump is probably in my near future...
We didn't get squat out of the rain, or lack of this morning...

You need to have a shroud around the pump and motor to route the flow of water past the motor to cool it. You could drill a 8" well in northern WI where the ground water temperature is close to 50 degrees put a 4" submersible in there without a shroud it will burn out. Submersible motors require water flowing at velocity over the outer skin for cooling.

Take a piece of 4" PVC around the pump get a well seal for the top of the your pump will last for years. My first toy was a pump impeller I paid for my college education working for a well driller.

Oh well megger it each leg to ground it under 500 ohms it is a goner.

What am I missing?
My well is 275 ft. deep with a 1/2 HP submersible in it.
No shroud.....just hang off the pitless adapter and a rope

What is the size of your well?

4" well with a 4" submersible should work, a 6" well is ok but domestic water supply is different than irrigation. Irrigation is long run times, domestic systems are filling a 60 gallon pressure tank at 7-12 gpm

Standard steel well casing size for around here... guessing 6"
