I went full circle, started with a Searay 210 BR to a 280 Sundancer and now recently picked up a 2017 Hurricane Sundeck 2200 OB. Primary boating will be done on the South Florida Intercoastal sand bars and restaurants. My only regret is that I think it is under powered with the Yamaha 150. I need to check this weekend but I “think” it has the original aluminum prop that’s 14.25x17. When its just my wife, no wind, and smooth conditions hole shot is decent but RPM is around 5200 @ 33 mph. This weekend fully loaded with 5 adults and a full tank I was getting 29mph into a strong headwind with a max of 5100 rpm and hole shot was noticibley slower. This kind of lines up with what I have seen others getting on this config. I can hold it on plane down to about 20ish mph.

My question is being on the intercoastal chop is a real issue with all the boats out on weekends. I am not looking to win any races but would still like to cover distance in a decent amount of time. I would like to lower my planning speed a bit, keep around 30-35mph, and increase engine RPM. Would a stainless 14.25x15 4 blade be my happy place? Or should I just do a 3 blade 15 pitch?

Finding Yam 150 WOT is 5000-6000 RPM
Stainless will have thinner blades which means less drag. More blades means more drag and more stern lift and IMO you don't need more lift. I would try the stainless 3 blade 15 which will increase your WOT RPM and should help with hole shot and might help with MPG

Thanks, Is the pricetag of the yamaha reliance prop worth it over any of the other aftermarket props that have a generic hub cusion and are half the price like the Solas Rubex for instance?
