So my raggedy winch strap broke finally, I was not going to replace it just tie the strap to hook then the bearing that holds the crank in place failed and slides out, I used a couple zip ties to hold the plastic bearing in place on the crank but two failures time to replace.

Good morning on the lake ruined. Rolled out at 400:AM to hit the lake. Turned onto the one road I need to take, a heavily used road. I get on it and realize at some point between Monday and Thursday they tar and chipped the road. At 4:00 I was about the only one rolling and the dust was minimal. On the way home at 10:30 it was busy and nothing but a huge dust cloud for 5 miles. Chips were flying as well. When I got home my truck and boat were trashed. Completely covered in a fine grey dust. Had to pressure wash them both. The boat carpet need to be cleaned my T-Motor, Garmin electronic cradles, motor, trailer, everything. Arghhh!! Took me all afternoon to clean it all up. Not sure if anyone else is familiar with tar and chipping . It’s a joke. Going to have to go miles out of the way to get to the lake till the stuff settles in. At least a week or more.

Rock chips (12mm) and tar are NZ's go to for nearly all roads. Called chip seal , can be volcanic rock ( basalt or andesite ) or quartz based river stone .
Local government tender the work out to various contractors and mostly the quality is not that good
