2010 VX1100 Oil Change

Hi everyone- I've just purchased a new to me 2010 VX Deluxe ski (my first Jetski), and I have a question about the oil change procedure.

I've learned that this is a dry sump pump, and only about 1/2 the oil resides in the reservoir tank on top of the engine. Is there a procedure for getting more of the oil out than is possible with just suctioning out of the reservoir? I feel a little funny about only replacing half the oil when doing an oil change.

I found one video on the internet where the person removed the top of the oil reservoir and would intermittently run the engine, then suck dirty oil out of the rectangular supply channel in the reservoir until he saw cleaner oil coming up. Is this a valid method? Is there an easier way to get to the rest of the oil? Am I just overthinking this whole thing?

on my 2021 Sea Doo which also uses a dry sump - I use a vacuum extractor to suck out the pan, like you said you get a 3/4 of the oil out that way.

Sea Doo has a function where if you hold the throttle wide open ( think its called flooded engine mode) when you hit the starter - engine spins without spark and fuel... This pulls the oil out of the reservoir and back in to the engine and ultimately the sump. Do this 2-3 times and you get the reservoir empty. Refill with same amount you pulled out.

Would assume yamaha has a similar feature or way to just spin the engine without starting it.
