Stainless Steel Rowboat

Looking for information on a 14 ft stainless steel rowboat I picked up at auction about 35 years ago. I have since refinished gunwale and transom wood, replaced the oak seats, added floorboards and rigged it as a musky troller. My preliminary search indicated it might be a StarCraft but the info I found was somewhat contradictory re length (12 vs 14 ft) and hull type (galvanized vs stainless steel). The info I did find was also over 10 years old. Any current comment/info would be much appreciated.

Hello All-

We purchased a lodge and have about 10 steel starcraft boats. Some are 12' some are 14'. We are hoping to get them all back in the water. So far two have been cleaned up and painted the traditonal lodge colors. Does anyone know what colors they were originally? Found an ad on ebay that looks like ours it is from 1952. Thanks! Not sure if it is ok to give out our name on this forum, don't want to promo the business, but we are in Trout Lake, MI. Some of them need quite a bit of work, but we love them, and think they go with our place perfectly.

Thanks. I was thinking that they looked hand crafted and were replacement parts. I take it then that you agree that it is a star craft. I've found a few references that star craft used only galvanized. Thanks to you and others for your input. It feels good to have answeres to questions I had for years. I had no idea this forum existed. Love the boat! It carriles momentum well between oar strokes, isn't overly heavy, is relatively easy to care for....and it looks good.

It's a bit tricky releasing muskies over the side however!

Beautiful boat and excellent restoration. But are you sure it's not polished aluminum and not SS? If SS it must be pretty heavy.
