What year and hp is this? The only info I have is 1802S - E04461. That S may be a 5, hard to tell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Neat link, cool pics. I have the 3hp folder on the left, wish I had the case for it. Mine's a '68. The Evinrude Mate is mentioned in The Old Outboard Book; came out in 1940, 1/2hp, weighed 10lbs with a full tank of gas. Guess this is a later version.

I have an Evinrude 1/2 horse Mate. New condition. Has never been on a boat. No lie. Reply for it's history.

This motor is one that the Evinrude people kept while they were manufactured. They had a policy (circa 40's & 50's) to keep several motors of each model they made. There is no serial number plate.

This was a gift from Ralph Evinrude to my father who was the Evinrude Chief Engineer for many years and was the first OMC Director of Research.

I worked for the Evinrude repair department in 1957 and several Milwaukee boat/motor dealers. One of these was Tessner Motor Boat Sales, at the time one of the country's largest Evinrude dealers.

The magneto will still throw a spark and I think it would run. In the years I have had it I don't remember ever starting it.
