After looking at e-bay boat listings and seeing many with piles of leaves or snow, I began wondering how many people store their boats with a cover on it or under a covered area.

MY some people don't realize that since it is a boat it is supposed to be wet. Tell them next time they go out fill the inside with water since it is a boat and doesn't matter... :D

Re: Is your boat covered?

Since mine will not fit in my gagage :( , it sits in my driveway with the cover on most of the time. If the interior has gotten wet from a ski session, I try to leave it uncovered and dry out for a day or so. Depends on the weather. Other than that, when it's in my driveway, it covered! ;)

I have done both ways, and trust me, much better covered. My cover is now rotten, time for a new one.

Ken

When in it's slip for the summer, I use the cockpit cover, always!
When the boat is on it's trailer for the winter, I cover it using the factory shipping cover that it came with new. I have done that even when I stored it inside for two winters.

Mine use to be covered in the garage, but after getting new truck, it now sits under a canopy, but still with full cover, including the engine.

It's old, but it's all mine. :)

I keep mine covered especially since the first thing I had to do after I bought it was to replace the floor and other wood surfaces.

In the winter it's in a storage shed and covered. Spring/Fall it's in the garage. Summer it's outside but I pull it out of the water during the week and cover.

My larger boat is shrinkwrapped and my 17 Mako is under a tarp. While in water I always have either my bimini and backdrop with side curtains and Windshield extension or mooring cover.I also have a cover for my dash and seats.I also have a console cover for my Mako with a dodger and bimini.Charlie

My cuddy is "tented"... I purchased some of those saw horse brackets and created a saw horse the length of the boat with supports inside. Covered the entire creature with two layers of polytarp and tied her up.

No snow sticks to it and cheap to boot for the winter.

Ditto Bart- I did make the mistake of leaving it with the cockpit canopy up as a cover but we had a 70mph gale and now I just put a tarp over the cockpit.

Re: Is your boat covered?

Always covered because it has plywood floors with carpet! In the summer I use the cockpit and bow covers, in the winter I use the heavy canvas cover, I made supports from PVC and wood bases to tent it so the rain and snow run off. I also use 4 of those moisture buckets to absorb any moisture that gets inside. When we get a nice day in the winter I open it up and let it air out. Keeps the floors nice and dry all winter.

It's a poor excuse for a man that won't put a porch over his tool(s)!

You shouldn't own a boat if you don't have the time to cover it.
