My boat is covered, in my garage. Nine years ago my wife bought a new sewing machine. She gave me her Sears Kenmore and said here, make a cover for your new boat. So I did. I shopped the fabric outlets and bought the remainder of a roll of heavy vinyl that matched the boat. It took some figuring but it came out great. My previous boat was eight years old when I sold it to my daughter a year ago so the cover is now nine years old and in excellent shape. It got trailered regularly at freeway speed and never had a torn seam. I repeated the process for my new boat. Better than canvas, nicer fit, dryer and nicer looking (at least to me.) Cost was about $50. Snaps were more than the vinyl. Fun winter project.
